When the locking clip is in place, the tow bar is securely fastened to the vehicle's base plate.
Once the tow bar has been connected, simply plug the wiring harness into the receptacle at the rear of the motorhome and ALWAYS connect your safety chains in an "X" pattern under the tow bar.
When you pull the motorhome forward, the tow bar will automatically align itself in the proper towing position.
Our Honda CR-V, although an automatic, was a snap to tow. Once the car was connected to the Blue Ox tow bar, we simply turned the Honda's ignition key to the Accessory position, verified that the steering wheel was unlocked, and shifted the transmission into neutral.
Our experience with the Aventa II tow bar has been nothing but positive.
We found the tow bar to be easy to hook up to the CR-V and never had a problem aligning the car with the tow bar. The car tracked behind the motorhome so smoothly that we weren't even aware that it was following along behind us. We would occasionally check our backup camera just to be sure that everything was operating normally.
Our favorite feature is the foldaway capability of this towbar. We locked it onto the hitch receiver and we were able to store the tow bar simply by folding it out of the way, parallel with the motorhome bumper. This saved a lot of time, muscle, and storage space.
We are also impressed with the workmanship of the tow bar; there are no rough edges anywhere and the boot material is thick and substantial. Blue Ox has produced a fantastic product, and we highly recommend the Aventa II for its fine workmanship and ease of use; it performed above and beyond our high expectations.
