MotoSat's DataStorm Mobile Internet Satellite

RVLinker.com

Your Home for RVing Information Over the Internet

We at RVLinker.com had a MotoSat DataStorm installed on our 40' Country Coach motorhome in August, 2002. We have used the system for three months, and have become quite familiar with its installation and operation. The following pages will shed some light on how the DataStorm is installed and how it operates.

Our MotoSat DataStorm was installed by Allen Beadel at Cowtown RV in Aledo, Texas (on I-20, west of Fort Worth). We are extremely pleased with his installation of the system; his craftsmanship and attention to detail were superb, and the technical support he provided when acquainting us with the dish has been priceless.

Rooftop MotoSat DataStorm Installation: Mobile Internet Satellite for RV's

The first item of business was to locate a strong portion of the roof for mounting the dish. A spot was chosen that would allow the necessary cabling to be run through the refrigerator's venting system, thereby avoiding any additional roof penetrations (roof penetrations may be necessary for some installations).

Next, a cabinet inside the motorhome was selected. We chose an overhead cabinet directly above our dining room table. This space will eventually house the modems for sending and receiving data through the antenna system.

The satellite antenna was mounted in place with screws and adhesives and the control cables were securely attached. All screw holes were completely covered with a water-resistant material.
